Applications
This policy applies to the mobile apps developed by Claudius Thelen that link to this page: Progress, Friendly Reminder, Todaily and Wortschatz. It covers iOS and Android. App-specific passages are marked. The explicitly labeled Android additions below do not apply to iOS.

Controller within the meaning of the GDPR is Claudius Thelen. The postal address is in the legal notice.
The apps do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email address, or postal address to use their core features.
What you enter is stored locally on your device and, where technically required, in local app group storage shared with the app’s widget. I do not receive, access, collect, or store this data.
iOS onlyIn-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. I receive only the purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro and restore purchases — not your payment details.
The free versions show advertising through Google AdMob. Depending on your consent, region, and device settings, Google may process device identifiers, an approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostics. Where consent is required, the apps use Google’s User Messaging Platform to obtain and manage it. Pro removes advertising in the respective app.
iOS | Friendly ReminderIf you grant the permission, the app uses Apple’s location and region-monitoring services to trigger a reminder when you arrive at or leave a place you saved. Places and reminders stay on your device. I do not receive your location.
WortschatzThe app downloads signed vocabulary packs from assets.claudiusthelen.com. That subdomain is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, which processes ordinary request data — IP address, time of request, requested file, user agent — to deliver the file and keep the server secure. By the provider’s own account these logs are deleted after seven days at the latest, except where an incident such as an attack requires longer retention.
Where you enable them, notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification is sent through a server of mine.
Where the GDPR applies, advertising and the identifiers it uses are processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Purchases and unlocking Pro rest on performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). The server logs described above rest on the legitimate interest in secure, reliable delivery (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Android | All four appsTraining records, habits, reminders, places and learning marks are stored in the respective app on the device. There is no developer-operated content-sync server. Android cloud backup and automatic device transfer of app data are disabled. Uninstalling normally removes local app data, but does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
Android | PurchasesGoogle Play processes purchases and subscriptions. The app stores purchase receipts locally and uses their signatures and status to unlock Pro and restore purchases. Status queries and acknowledgments communicate with Google Play. I do not receive payment details through this integration. Google Play shows the price, trial eligibility and renewal terms before purchase. Android and Apple subscriptions are separate.
Android | AdvertisingWhen advertising is enabled, Google's advertising SDK processes the IP address, an IP-derived approximate location, product interactions, performance diagnostics and device identifiers such as the Android advertising ID and app set ID. This can include app launches and ad interactions. These data are used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention and are encrypted in transit. Availability of identifiers depends on consent, device settings and Google's ad mode. The apps do not add their own training records, reminder texts or precise location fields to ad requests. This does not mean that the SDK processes no data. Advertising privacy options are in the Pro tab when required by Google UMP. Pro removes banners.
Android | Progress and Wear OSIf you use the companion watch app, Progress exchanges exercises, set records, the training view, saved changes and countdown settings with the connected watch. Editing an unsaved phone draft alone does not transmit it. Google's Wearable Data Layer may use Bluetooth or an end-to-end-encrypted relay through Google's servers, depending on the connection. I operate no synchronization server. Unacknowledged changes remain in a local queue until acknowledgment or intentional correction. Phone and watch independently verify Pro with Google Play. Local training and sync files are excluded from Android backup and device transfer. The Wear app contains no AdMob advertising.
Android | Friendly ReminderOptional place rules use Android location and geofence services with your permission. Background location is needed only for voluntarily enabled place monitoring. Saved places, radii and detected states are kept in the app. I do not receive a location history. Entering Places does not automatically load an online map. If you explicitly open the map, MapLibre requests OpenFreeMap content. The provider and its infrastructure receive your IP address and requests for the displayed area, which can reveal the place being viewed. No reminder names or background geofence events are sent to the map provider. OpenFreeMap may use Cloudflare. Separate address search uses Android's system Geocoder after a notice. The entered query may reach the geocoding provider used on your device. Manual coordinate entry is available without map or address-search requests.
Android | WortschatzSigned language-pack updates are checked and downloaded from assets.claudiusthelen.com only after an intentional action. The hosting and request-log explanation above applies. Learning marks, search queries and profiles are not appended to these downloads. Pronunciation uses a device voice marked by Android as not requiring a network connection. No online substitute is started if such a voice is unavailable.
Android | Notifications and reviewsOptional reminders and the optional Progress countdown notice are scheduled locally, without my own push server. Android may delay background work and delivery. Native Google Play review requests use locally stored usage days and the last request attempt to limit prompts. The review API does not tell me whether a review was submitted or its content. Training, habit and vocabulary content are not passed as review parameters.
You have the right to request access to personal data concerning you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future — for advertising, in the app’s privacy settings.
Because the apps keep their data on your device and I operate no user accounts, in most cases there is no data held by me for these rights to attach to.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The one responsible for me is Der Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The apps are not directed to children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
iOS onlyYou can change advertising consent in the app where available, and location, notification, and tracking permissions in iOS Settings. Deleting an app removes the data it stored on your device. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings.
Android onlyChange location and notification permissions in Android settings, and advertising consent through the privacy options in the Pro tab where available. The Android advertising ID can be reset or deleted in system settings. Manage or cancel Android subscriptions in Google Play. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Data processed by external providers is subject to their privacy policies and retention periods.
